Our Master of Science in Physics offers a broad and sound cultural training in physics, in addition to the opportunity to tackle actual research work in one of the several fields currently under investigation at an international level in our Physics Department.
Training goals
- develop problem solving capabilities and an innovative approach through hands-on research experience. We believe that such general skills are extremely valuable in the job market as well as for fundamental research, regardless of the sector in which the research activity has been carried out;
- acquire the necessary cultural background, technical skills and control of the scientific research method to proficiently address problems in modern physics and related interdisciplinary subjects.
Organization
The Master of Science in Physics consists of 120 ECTS credits and lasts two years. The entire course will be carried out in English. The credits are dedicated:

- 1/3 to courses giving a sound cultural background on advanced fundamentals of modern Physics,
- 1/3 to courses for in-depth study within a specialization selected from the research areas pursued by our Physics Department;
- 1/3 to the students thesis, that is a personal research contribution in a selected project led by a research group in our Department.
The Masters program is organized in specializations within two main curricula: "Experimental Physics" and "Theoretical and Computational Physics".
